During the brand-new World Food & Film Festival at GOUDasfalt, Food Stories is proud to present the next phase of the successful Goudse Geluksbakkers project. A diverse group of amateur bakers from various cultural backgrounds will share their personal stories of resilience, traditions, and happiness, all wrapped up in a homemade cookie.

Gouda has become a new home for many people from all corners of the world. In addition to the well-known communities from Morocco, Turkey, Suriname, and the Antilles, there are also new residents from Poland, Ukraine, and Syria, among other places. This cultural diversity brings not only new traditions but also new flavors to the city. While the Gouda stroopwafel once found its way across the globe, these Gouda Geluksbakkers are now bringing their cookies and stories to Gouda.

On Friday, September 26, and Saturday, September 27, 2025, the historic GOUDasfalt grounds will transform into a global open-air festival. During the World Food & Film Festival, you can enjoy international cuisine, inspiring films, live music, workshops, and an in-depth program featuring discussions and a talk show. Admission is free; a small fee applies for the food.

In the months leading up to the festival, you can get a sneak peek at Kwadraad’s three community centers: Saturday, June 21 at the Van Noord Community Center, Saturday, July 12 at De Walvis, and Saturday, September 13 at the Nelson Mandela Center.
