Are you ready for an evening filled with art, film, live music, and powerful stories? Then join us on Thursday evening, March 6, at Museum Gouda for the exclusive Talks and Documentary Night: Spotlight on #MeToo. Together with well-known creators and artists, we’ll delve deeper into various aspects of inappropriate behavior, power imbalances, and their impact on individuals and our society. The evening will be hosted by Krista Arriëns, known from De Sekszusjes, and will provide a space for art, dialogue, and reflection.

What can you expect?
🎬 Film & documentaries
‘De Hoofdpersoon’ – In her documentary, filmmaker Judith de Leeuw explores how the #MeToo debate is playing out within the theater world. From the perspective of theater director Ruut Weissman and actress Harriët Stroet, we see how power and abuse of power play out in the rehearsal space. How do directors, actors, and documentary filmmakers relate to one another when the line between work and private life blurs?

‘NUDES’ – Director Kees-Jan Mulder focuses on a dilemma many young people face: what do you do if you receive an unsolicited nude video of a classmate? His short film shows how different perspectives and choices can have a major impact.

🎨 Art
Susanna Inglada created two video works specifically for the exhibition ‘Susanna. From the Middle Ages to MeToo’—two video works that focus on power and inequality. How have power dynamics been depicted in art throughout history? And how do these mechanisms still operate today?
During the intermission, you can visit the high-profile exhibition ‘Susanna - From the Middle Ages to MeToo’ with one of the quick-tour guides.

🎶 Live music
Zuster Zonnebloem, the band led by musician Hanne Brunekreeft, will perform a song written especially for this exhibition about the fate of Susanna. With their characteristic poetic and poignant sound, they give a musical voice to a centuries-old yet still relevant story.
