From Oasis to Tapestry: Museum Gouda Brings "Wonderwall" to the Radio
Anyone who turns on the radio in the coming days might just hear a familiar Oasis hit—but with a slight twist. Museum Gouda is using this for the radio spot promoting the exhibition “Wonder Walls,”, a unique string quartet rendition of “Wonderwall”, Oasis’s 1995 global hit.
It’s a fitting nod, as the recently openedWonder Walls exhibition focuses on monumental tapestries woven in Gouda during the 17th century. At the time, these woven masterpieces were true luxury items and often more expensive than a painting.
The performance of “Wonderwall” is by the Vitamin String Quartet, known for their classical arrangements of pop hits and the sound that became popular, in part, through the Netflix series *Bridgerton*. And the timing is especially fitting: Oasis is back on tour after years away and will perform twice in Amsterdam in July 2027.
“An Oasis song on the radio for our museum—we secretly didn’t dare to hope for that,” says Femke Haijtema, director of Museum Gouda. “But it happened. ‘Wonderwall,’ for our ‘Wonder Walls’: too perfect to pass up.”
“Wonder Walls – Woven Masterpieces” is the first major exhibition on tapestries in the Netherlands. The exhibition runs through March 28, 2027, at Museum Gouda.
The radio spot will air starting October 3 on NPO Radio 1, Radio Klassiek, NPO Radio 5, Radio West, and Radio M Utrecht.
