STADSKANT is more than just a physical space. We are building new ways of coming together, collaborating, and creating: a growing ecosystem where people, ideas, places, and networks converge to create new opportunities—where encounters lead to collaboration, where ideas can flourish, and where initiatives can become a reality.
Why STADSKANT?
Our cities are changing. People work differently, connect in new ways, and more and more initiatives are emerging from residents, creators, entrepreneurs, and local networks. At the same time, the places where people naturally meet, collaborate, and build something together are disappearing. We believe that strong communities start with connection. That’s why STADSKANT is developing new ways for people, ideas, and organizations to find each other—not by organizing everything ourselves, but by creating the right conditions in which new initiatives can emerge, grow, and make an impact.
What does STADSKANT do?
STADSKANT brings people, ideas, and opportunities together. We do this through physical spaces, projects, and collaborations. We provide space to work, meet, create, and organize. We support initiatives with expertise, our network, facilities, and collaboration, so that ideas can actually be brought to life. Sometimes we serve as a venue partner. Sometimes we’re a co-organizer. Sometimes a facilitator. Sometimes a connector. Some of our cultural, creative, and social projects are developed through the STADSKANT Collectief Foundation. This allows us to help new initiatives grow sustainably together with residents, organizations, and partners. Since 2022, we’ve been building a creative and cultural gathering place in Gouda where organizations, creators, entrepreneurs, and residents come together. We create space for initiatives from the city and beyond, and support the development and realization of projects in the fields of art, culture, creativity, participation, and community building. STADSKANT offers not only a space but also support. We contribute ideas regarding concept, production, organization, and visibility. Sometimes we’re a venue partner, sometimes a co-organizer, and sometimes the supporting force behind the scenes. Our role changes with each project, but our goal remains the same: to make possible what might otherwise never come to be.
The STADSKANT Effect
The STADSKANT Effect occurs when people, ideas, resources, and opportunities come together. By forging connections, sharing knowledge, breaking down barriers, and creating the right conditions, new collaborations, projects, and initiatives emerge. We listen, connect, facilitate, accelerate, and make it easier to turn ideas into action. STADSKANT doesn’t organize everything on its own. Many activities arise through collaboration with organizations, collectives, businesses, artists, creators, and residents. We don’t take ideas and make them our own; instead, we help them move forward and ensure that more becomes possible. Together with our partners, we strengthen the local network and, step by step, build an accessible and dynamic ecosystem in Gouda.

Our current location brings together all the experiences from the past four years: a place where experimentation, collaboration, art, and entrepreneurship converge. STADSKANT offers space for personal projects, collaborations, workshops, training sessions, co-creation initiatives, and maker activities. We continue to support, facilitate, and connect, while also offering flexible workspaces for freelancers and initiatives. STADSKANT is an open, inspiring, and connecting space in Gouda, where community, creativity, and entrepreneurship go hand in hand.
