In this short abstract stop-motion film, Stellata Koppe uses colorful, hand-woven imagery and violin music by Eefje Habraken to depict the journey she has taken as a trans woman.

Stop-motion is an animation techniquein which a film is created by playing back a large number of individual still images in sequence, with a slight shift in position between each image. When these images are played back in rapid succession, it looks as if the object is moving on its own.

For this film, Stellata wove 8.4 meters of fabric into five canvases, which together yielded 1,056 photographs.

This film aims to show how important transition can be for transgender people, to empower those who are still on the waiting list, and to foster recognition and awareness among a broad audience.

"A Story of Unfolding Wings" was made possible by Bewegend Beeld Gemeente Rotterdam, Voordekunst, and Cultuurfonds Zuid-Holland.

During the Gouda Festival de Verwondering, this film will be shown continuously on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the 3-D video art ball at Unit4Art Gallery, Crabethpark 24.

Stellata will be there on Saturday, September 19, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
