In the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries, Gouda was one of the most important and wealthiest cities in Holland. Unfortunately, however, Gouda has also experienced poverty. Of course, the tour highlights the iconic, late-Gothic town hall, the Waag, St. John’s Church with its 72 stained-glass windows, and the former Catharina Gasthuis.
