Origins & History of I
ICI PARIS XL was founded in May 1968 when Mr. and Mrs. Brenig opened a small perfume shop in the Belgian district of Ixelles: “Ici Paris” in Ixelles. “Ixelles” is a neighborhood in Brussels. At the time, most products were still imported directly from the French capital. From the very beginning, the door was open to everyone. The owners’ goal was to bring the world of Paris to the “Ixelles” neighborhood. The name was born: ICI PARIS XL!
Benelux
Because the store was such a commercial success, other locations were quickly opened in Brussels. Flanders and Wallonia weren’t far behind… the major perfume chain ICI PARIS XL was born. In the Netherlands, the first store opened its doors in 1997. Currently, there are 289 stores across the Benelux: 165 in the Netherlands, 117 in Belgium, 5 in Luxembourg, and 2 in Germany.
