Your city, your movie theater.

Since 1910, film has been an integral part of Gouda
What began with modest screenings at venues such as Kunstmin grew in the 1920s and 1930s into a thriving cinema culture, featuring venues such as Thalia and De Réunie. In 1987, Cinema Arcade opened its doors in a former barracks on Agnietenstraat and remained the city’s premier movie theater for nearly thirty years. In 2014, Cinema Gouda carried on that rich tradition: a modern, independent movie theater with strong roots in the community, continuing a local film culture that has now spanned more than a century.

Cinema Gouda is more than just a place to watch movies
It is an independent local movie theater with a strong sense of connection to the city. Built on Gouda’s proud tradition of movie-going, we have grown into a modern cultural center where state-of-the-art facilities blend with a warm, welcoming atmosphere for everyone. As an independent movie theater, we serve the city as a place where people come together to share stories, culture, and experiences. Every ticket, cup of coffee, or bag of popcorn you buy from us supports the theater.

Today, Cinema Gouda offers six modern theaters with a total of 766 luxury seats, 42 super-deluxe VIP seats, and 14 comfortable rocking chairs (in Theater 1). Each theater is designed with maximum comfort in mind: spacious seats, extra legroom, and a wall-to-wall screen. All theaters are equipped with digital projection and Dolby 7.1 surround sound, ensuring that every movie can be enjoyed to the fullest.

Theater 1 is the showpiece of Cinema Gouda
In addition to 42 VIP seats and 14 recliner seats, this theater features the latest innovation in sound: Dolby Atmos. With 64 unique audio channels, Dolby Atmos creates a spectacular, immersive, and lifelike soundscape. Here, you don’t just watch a movie—you truly experience it.

Our cozy lobbies on the first and second floors, complete with a bar, make Cinema Gouda not just a movie theater, but also a gathering place. Whether you’re coming to see a major blockbuster, a unique arthouse film, or one of our community events—Cinema Gouda is your movie theater. Rooted in the city, and open to everyone.
