Stunning works of art, surprising stories, and a lovely courtyard garden

Behind St. John’s Church lies the beautiful medieval building that houses the Gouda Museum. There, you’ll discover much more than just stories and artifacts about the history of this unique city—from life-size paintings that survived the Iconoclastic Fury to masterpieces of 19th- and 20th-century painting. From a contemporary photo exhibition featuring hairdressers to elegant Gouda pottery.

This summer, the Gouda City Museum is hosting a stunning collection of artworks from the Rijksmuseum, on display in the major exhibition *Faith*. From a painting by Botticelli to photographs by Vincent Mentzel. In the colorful exhibition Unheard on the first floor, you’ll journey through six centuries of history through the eyes of women from the Museum Gouda collection.
