The windmills around Gouda are iconic features of the typical Dutch polder landscape.
They tell the story of centuries-old crafts and water management. In and around the city, you will find several historic windmills that are part of the Gouda Millers' Association. Just outside Gouda, you will find even more characteristic mills dotted across the Dutch landscape and polders. These mills can be beautifully combined with a walking or cycling tour: you follow quiet country roads, dikes, and waterways while the sails turn in the wind.
