On Friday, July 10, Filmhuis Gouda and StudioGonz are jointly organizing a special evening that brings together film, music, and socializing. Visitors can first enjoy the documentary *I Was A Teenage Sex Pistol* at Filmhuis Gouda and then take the stage themselves during a special Sex Pistols Karaoke event at StudioGonz.
Through this collaboration, both organizations aim to demonstrate how cooperation between different parties can lead to surprising events. By joining forces, Filmhuis Gouda and StudioGonz have created a program that offers more than just a single film screening or a karaoke night on its own. This demonstrates how joint initiatives can generate new ideas, enhance the experience, and attract a broader audience.
The collaboration is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Sex Pistols’ debut single, “Anarchy in the UK.” The documentary *I Was A Teenage Sex Pistol* tells the story of the influential punk band through the memories of original bassist Glen Matlock and highlights his often-underestimated role within the band. The film shows how punk evolved into a social movement that gave young people a voice and challenged existing norms.
After the film, the program moves to StudioGonz, where visitors are invited to grab the microphone themselves during a karaoke night dedicated to the Sex Pistols and punk music. Of course, visitors who prefer to simply watch, listen, or soak up the atmosphere are also very welcome. This way, the evening becomes not only a tribute to an iconic band but also a place where people can meet and experience culture together.
