Introductory walk Water walk
Gouda’s history is inextricably linked to the waters of the Hollandse IJssel and the Gouwe. These rivers brought wealth to the city, but they also caused problems at times. During this water walk, you’ll learn all about Gouda’s unique history with water through its locks and canals. You’ll also learn about the impact of climate change and land subsidence on the city and its surroundings.
Led by a guide, you’ll leave the beaten path and discover unique spots with fascinating stories. A guided tour past the Donkere Sluis, the Museumhaven, the Tolhuis, and the Houtmansplantsoen will show you that Gouda has much more to offer than just City Hall and St. John’s Church.
This walking tour is ideal for people who have previously taken a guided walking tour of Gouda. It is also perfect for those with a special interest in water. They will get to know the city from a fascinating new perspective through this water-themed tour.
