Introductory walk through historic Gouda
This walking tour can be conducted in two languages (Dutch and English or Dutch and German), depending on the participants.
Every Saturday from June 6 through August 29, with the exception of Saturdays, June 13 and July 4, you can join us on a discovery tour of well-known and lesser-known spots in the historic center of Gouda.
Outside of this period , this city walk is also offered on May 23, October 24, and November 28, 2026.
Of course, the highlights of Gouda, such as the beautiful City Hall and St. John’s Church, are featured on this walk through Historic Gouda. But Gouda has more to offer! Gouda’s historic city center boasts over three hundred monuments. The street layout has remained virtually unchanged since the Middle Ages, and the old canals are still abundant.
During this city walk, you’ll get an accessible introduction to the city’s most beautiful and important buildings and hear the most fascinating stories from Gouda’s past. A guide will lead you past well-known landmarks such as the Kaaswaag, St. John’s Church, and City Hall, as well as lesser-known—but certainly no less interesting—remnants of, for example, the many monasteries and chapels that once graced the city. We’ll take you to charming spots in the city that even most Gouda residents have never visited.
Of course, we’ll also be highlighting famous Gouda products such as cheese, pipes, pottery, and stroopwafels.
