The famous film classic The Circus (1928) by Charlie Chaplin will be screened, with live organ accompaniment by organist Geerten Liefting.
In the era of silent films, live music was indispensable. Organists and pianists accompanied the images and brought the story to life. On November 7, this tradition will be revived at De Lichtwijzer. Geerten Liefting will improvise on the historic Van den Brink organ to accompany the adventures of Charlie Chaplin. Humor, suspense, and emotion come together in a unique blend of film and music.
The performance begins at 2:30 p.m. and is suitable for all ages. Admission is free. Children must be accompanied by an adult. After the performance, there will be a collection to support the preservation of the Van den Brink organ.

The Van den Brink organ at the Lichtwijzer in Gouda (CGK) is in need of major maintenance. This will require a substantial amount of money: 200,000 euros. The Van den Brink organ is a historic instrument of great significance to Gouda: for Sunday worship and, as a living heritage, part of Gouda’s organ heritage. We would very much like to preserve this organ, and we need your help to do so!
