490th Anniversary of Erasmus' Death Commemorated with a Walk

On Sunday, July 12, the Erasmus Society of Gouda will commemorate the anniversary of Erasmus’s death with a walk through the city. The walk will follow the route of the well-known Erasmus audio trail.

Participants will gather at 11:45 a.m. at the bust of Erasmus in the Willem Vroesen Garden in Gouda. After a brief introduction, the walk will begin, following the route formerly known as “Erasmus, Child of Gouda.” This route is now available via the Erasmus audio trail on the Explore Gouda website.

During the walk, you’ll hear more than just the audio trail. The Erasmus Society also honors the memory of three notable women from Gouda who worked in the spirit of Erasmus.
