Free admission during Open Monument Days at Museum Gouda
Museum Gouda is opening its doors for the national Open Monument Days, which will take place this year on Saturday, September 13, and Sunday, September 14. Admission to the museum is free on those days. There will also be free guided tours of the building and its surroundings on Saturday, September 13, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The theme of the Open Monument Days is Heritage & Architecture – built to last.
Museum Gouda is located in the former Catharina Gasthuis. The history of this historic building dates back to the 14th century, when it served as a shelter where vagrants, mendicant monks, and fugitive serfs could spend the night.
For anyone curious about the historic building, free guided tours of the building and its grounds will be held on Saturday, September 13, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Learn all about the various rooms of the guesthouse and their historical uses. No reservations are required for this tour, but space is limited. The tour starts in the museum garden, Achter de Kerk 14.
If you’d like to explore the building on your own, you can pick up a special (free) flyer at the ticket office that will guide you through all the interesting areas and provide interesting facts about them.
Admission to the museum is free on both days.
