Two music films during PopMonument in Gouda at Filmhuis Gouda
Following successful editions in other cities, the PopMonument music festival will make its debut in Gouda on Saturday, February 15. The Goudse Schouwburg and Poppodium So What! will transform the city into a unique venue where music, art, and heritage come together. Filmhuis Gouda will also serve as a venue, featuring two music film screenings specially selected for the festival.
On Friday, February 14, Filmhuis Gouda will screen the classic film *Man with a Movie Camera* (1928), accompanied live by DJ KLUMSI. Dziga Vertov’s groundbreaking avant-garde documentary offers a powerful visual experience, featuring footage from Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Odessa. The live soundtrack, mixed by DJ KLUMSI, adds a modern twist with soul and electronic influences.
On Saturday afternoon, February 15, the film "Kneecap" is on the program. This energetic biopic tells the story of the Irish rap trio Kneecap, who champion the Irish language and culture through raw lyrics and a powerful message. An explosive mix of sex, drugs, and hip-hop activism, in which Kneecap plays themselves.
With previously announced acts such as Hiqpy, Nils Davidse, Dressed Like Boys, WIES, Pitou, LUWTEN, and Naaz, PopMonument provides a stage for alternative pop and indie music against the historic backdrop of Gouda. Iconic venues such as De Waag, Cultuurhuis Garenspinnerij, So What!, and the Goudse Schouwburg serve as the backdrop for intimate performances and a surprising film and art program.
A separate ticket is required for the film program in addition to the regular festival ticket. Tickets are now available at www.popmonument.nl. The full program and the latest lineup of artists will be announced shortly. PopMonument Gouda is a collaboration between De Goudse Schouwburg and So What!, made possible by the Municipality of Gouda and the South Holland Cultural Fund.
