On Friday, December 12, Gouda will celebrate the 70th edition of Gouda by Candlelight, and the Goudse Schouwburg theater will be pulling out all the stops. This year's program will focus on world music, with artists showcasing the power of diversity and togetherness. In addition, audience favorites such as the X-mas Sing-Along, the official opening, and the Gouda Pop School will return, alongside atmospheric performances by local talent in the foyers. There will also be a children's program in the upper foyer and the performance Schaduwvlucht by John de Heij with the ISK Gouda in Studio67.

From 1 p.m. until the wee hours, you can walk in freely (and for free) and enjoy live music and a sing-along in the main hall. With a rocking live band and amazing soloists, the theater will provide an evening filled with all the big Christmas hits and classics, such as "All I Want for Christmas," "Last Christmas," and many more. The theater will provide a large screen with all the lyrics, so put on your ugly Christmas sweater, hang your lights around your neck, and come sing along at the top of your lungs.

New this year is a special focus on musical stories from around the world. Syrian composer and musician Anan Alkadamani, for example, brings music that exudes hope and perseverance. Ilein Bermudez, Boudewijn Zwart, Draymell Díaz Rodríguez, and Lidor Ram Mesika also take the audience on an enchanting journey through worldly sounds, with a unique combination of electric piano and oboe.

Everyone is welcome to drop in during this festive afternoon and evening filled with music and entertainment.
