The HAP is an organization in which all general practitioners in the region work together to provide emergency medical care outside office hours. General practitioners and certified physician assistants are available to assess and treat your acute medical issues.
If necessary, the HAP will attempt to access your relevant medical data, such as medical history, medication use, and allergies.

The physician assistant determines the urgency and the best approach to your healthcare needs over the phone.
This could be:
- telephone advice
- a consultation at the HAP
- referral to the ER (Emergency Room)
- a home visit by a family doctor
- call an ambulance immediately
The physician assistant always asks about:
- what is going on, in a nutshell
- patient's name, address, and date of birth
- phone number
- name of your own family doctor
- Social Security Number (found on your ID card)
