Plenty of activities at the petting zoo during spring break
During spring break, a variety of activities will be organized at De Goudse Hofsteden petting zoo. Every day, children are welcome to come to the café area for arts and crafts—from coloring pictures to painting a piggy bank; there’s something for everyone. No registration is required for these activities. For the other activities, you can sign up via the website.
The Elfstedentocht scavenger hunt is available every day and includes fun games, a sports-themed coloring page, and a healthy snack. Children can also enter the coloring contest.
Op maandag 16 februari wordt van 10.30 – 11.30 uur de dreumes- en peuterochtend georganiseerd op kinderboerderij De Goudse Hofsteden. De allerkleinste kinderen (< 4 jaar) gaan samen met papa, mama, opa of oma kleine dieren knuffelen in de knuffelhoek en dieren voeren onder begeleiding van een dierverzorger. Daarnaast maken ze een klein knutseltje.
Who’s brave enough?? This morning, some special animals will be visiting the Exotus Serpenti petting zoo. From 10:00–11:00 a.m. or from 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., you can learn all about these special animals under the guidance of one of their animal caretakers. There is a maximum number of participants. This is a parent-child activity. Participants must be 4 years or older.
In the afternoon, children can make window decorations between 1:30 and 3:00 p.m. They can choose from a variety of designs and color them in using special paint or markers. This activity is suitable for children ages 5 and up.
On Tuesday, February 17, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., children will get to work with cans or glass jars to turn trash into something fun.
Afternoon Foam Clay Workshop, from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM. A fun workshop where participants work with foam clay and various figures and animals made from different materials of their choice to decorate with. Children can also create mosaics.
The Pony and Donkey Morning will be held on Wednesday, February 18, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Children will help take care of the ponies and donkeys, make a fun pony craft, and bake a pony cupcake.
In the afternoon, children can have their faces painted between 1:30 and 3:00 p.m.
Thursday, Feb. 19: Animal Morning for animal lovers! From 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., children ages 4 to 12 can help care for the animals alongside the animal caretaker, cuddle with the animals in the petting corner, play fun games, and do crafts. We’ll wrap up with a delicious pancake and a glass of milk or lemonade!
In the afternoon, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., children will decorate horseshoes using various materials.
Friday, February 20. Today, we’ll be visited by some special animals: owls and birds of prey. From 10:15–11:15 a.m. or 11:15 a.m.–12:15 p.m., you can learn all about these special animals under the guidance of an animal caretaker from Uil Topia. There is a maximum number of participants. This is a parent-child activity. As a parent, you are also required to pay for participation.
In the afternoon, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., children can make stick animals. In addition to the classic hobby horse, they can choose from sheep, cows, pigs, and other animals. With these handmade animals, children can walk and jump through an obstacle course in the ponies’ sandbox.

Enjoy even more time at the petting zoo—during the holidays, it’s open on Mondays too! And you don’t have to leave for lunch either; during the holidays, you can enjoy delicious mini pancakes and freshly baked pancakes, or a bowl of soup with a slice of farmhouse bread!
