Super Cool Kids' Party
On Wednesday afternoon, May 27, the Super Cool Kids Party will take place for the seventh time on the Markt in Gouda. Children’s Mayor Tommie and the children’s aldermen Adam, Fenne, Isabel, Lida, and Robin invite all children in Gouda to this free children’s party. This year’s theme is “For all children.” A theme that focuses on accessibility for all children, regardless of any physical limitations.
From 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., there will be a wide variety of athletic, educational, festive, sustainable, and inclusive activities to enjoy. At 2:00 p.m., the festival will be officially opened on Podiumplein by the children’s council, with the participation of Mayor Pieter Verhoeve and Saskia van Schaik, the executive director of the Brede School.
What’s there to do?
As in previous years, the Market will be divided into different areas offering activities planned in consultation with the members of the children’s council.
The Podiumplein with Child Mayor Tommie
Child Mayor Tommie believes it’s important that children with physical disabilities can participate too. At his request, children in wheelchairs can easily access the stage. The Podiumplein also features all kinds of performances throughout the day. In between, there’s an Open Stage where kids can perform themselves. You can sign up on the day of the event, either alone or with a group, but be quick—spots are limited.
The Culture Square with Children’s Councilor Isabel
At the Culture Square, children can get creative on their own. They can help create a large-scale artwork and design costumes for Festival De Verwondering. They can paint on giant sheets of fabric that will later be turned into actual costumes. They can also make a clay sculpture, and there are plenty of other fun things to discover!
The Feel-Good Square with Children’s Councilor Fenne
This is a place where children can relax. They can also dance to the silent disco here. New this year is the vibrating platform at the silent disco for children who are hard of hearing. They can feel the music and dance along. There is also a mini-beach with sand and water, a sensory tent where children can “chill out,” the Book Bike where children can listen to stories, and a puppeteer walking around.
The Activity Plaza with Children’s Councilor Robin
Under the guidance of Sport●Gouda, children can enjoy getting active with a wide range of sports activities. There’s a giant slide, and children can also experience firsthand how difficult it is to move around when you can’t see well.
The Nature Square with Children’s Councilor Lida
From the Nature Square, children can use a bingo card to search for everything that grows, blooms, and lives on the Market Square. There are also craft activities: making dreamcatchers and clay hedgehogs with sunflower seeds.
The Technology Square with Children’s Councilor Adam
At the Technology Square, kids can play with LEGO and try their hand at welding. This year, Nemo on Tour will present spectacular experiments designed to spark children’s curiosity. Kids will find answers to questions like: How does an airplane stay in the air? Why does the sound of a car change as it drives past you? How do you launch a rocket with a bicycle pump?
Sportspullenbank Gouda is the charity of the year for 2026
At the Super Cool Kids Party, there will be a booth run by Sportspullenbank Gouda collecting used sports gear, such as sneakers, sportswear, and towels. These items are for residents of Gouda who cannot afford to buy sports gear themselves. The Sportspullenbank ensures that everyone can participate in sports. So bring your old but still usable sneakers and drop them off at the Super Cool Kids Party!
Smoke-Free "
" Just like in previous years, at the request of the children's council, the Market will be a smoke-free zone all afternoon.
