Schumann’s *Widmung*, set to Friedrich Rückert’s text “Du bist die Ruh, du bist der Frieden,” connects the chaotic world in which we currently live with the essence of motherhood. Mother as a beacon in the storm of conflict: “You are calm, you are peace.”
Schumann gave the composition to his wife, Clara Schumann, as a wedding gift. She raised no fewer than eight children on her own, partly due to her husband’s illness.
The meaning of deep gratitude, love, and emotional security translates quite naturally into the bond between mother and child.
The young pianist Raman Hamo will perform this heartwarming piece as the opening act. Every year on Mother’s Day, we invite young talent to gain stage experience.
The main program opens with Handel’s graceful Trio Sonata. Warmth resonates in Barrière’s lyrical Sonata. Tenderness is reflected in Massenet’s Élégie in its purest form. Shostakovich’s Five Pieces offer a range of moods, from playful to introspective. Schumann’s poetic Arabesque is delicate, subtle, and full of emotional nuances. Callens’ In Cielo speaks directly to the heart, a deeply personal tribute to his mother. Delibes’ famous and exquisitely beautiful Duo des fleurs brings joyful light.
Finally, Menotti’s lively Suite shines in its powerful finale.
Celebrate Mother’s Day with two cellos, accompanied by piano harmonies, and embrace beauty, love, peace, and comfort.
Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to relax and enjoy complimentary snacks and drinks.
We warmly welcome you!
