MICHAL | Theater Group HENS
“I search in every sketch, in every portrait, in every painting. I search, but I cannot find him.”
The artist Michal attempts to capture her relationship with the men in her life on canvas. Her father Saul, her brother Jonathan, and King David, the man she continues to love. But she finds no canvas good enough. Her studio slowly fills up with unfinished works. Provoked by Jonathan, she is forced to face her greatest fear and bitterness. Slowly, it becomes clear what Michal is fighting against.
“You call me to mind. I see you so clearly, but on the canvas your contours fade.”
Theater group HENS draws inspiration from biblical characters. Real people, with their doubts, desires, and convictions. By giving them a voice, stories of tension, love, faith, and disbelief become surprisingly relatable.
After HADASSA (Queen Esther) and PONTIUS PILATE, they are now presenting their new production MICHAL. A modern theatrical adaptation about King David's first wife. Poignant texts and a smooth transition between humor, sharpness, and emotion are emphasized by surprising music.
