A city walking tour themed around love.
When people think of the "City of Love," they naturally think of Paris or Venice, not Gouda. But they’re wrong, because love is in the air in Gouda too! Especially for Valentine’s Day, the Gouda Guides Guild has put together a city walking tour themed around "Love in Historic Gouda." Join us and listen to love stories from Gouda that you’ve never heard before. Forget the dreary reality of everyday life for a moment and view the famous monuments through rose-colored glasses. This special themed walk is guaranteed to show you the most romantic side of historic Gouda.

How did people find a partner in the past? What did the church and the government expect of couples? Where does Valentine’s Day actually come from? Where does the tradition of the wedding ring come from?

In addition to all the “rosy” aspects of love, there is also room for stories about the darker side of love: jealousy, infidelity, and divorce.

Charity is, of course, also an expression of love, and this aspect will certainly be explored during this city walk centered on the theme of love. And don’t forget that in times past, people also chose to place their love for God at the center of their lives and, based on that choice, to shape their relationships with their fellow human beings. Book this walk, which takes place only once a year!
