Introductory ceramics walk
Every year on Ascension Day, you can enjoy the Gouda Ceramics Days. Especially for this occasion, the Gouda Guides Guild organizes a unique ceramics walking tour on Thursday. Join our guide, get to know Gouda, and learn all about the production of pottery through the centuries. Take part in a walk past the sites that played a role in the production of Gouda pottery.
For seven centuries, pottery kilns burned brightly in Gouda. At first, these kilns were filled with coarse, utilitarian pottery. This was followed by finer pottery, clay pipes, tiles, tableware, luxury goods, and decorative pottery, culminating in Gouda Pottery. Most of the kilns have since cooled down and disappeared, but fortunately, Gouda still has many spots that remind us of this rich ceramic past. You won’t want to miss this special ceramics walking tour! So be sure to book early for this tour that takes you past places that played a role in the production of Gouda pottery.
