Every Thursday morning during the season, you can enjoy the time-honored tradition of cheese trading at the Gouda market. Farmers and merchants haggle over every last cent, while cheese carts bustle back and forth to have the cheese weighed at the weigh house.

City Walk After the cheese market ends, we’ll start our introductory walking tour at 2:00 PM to explore Gouda further. Of course, we’ll talk about cheese, but Gouda has more to offer. For example, Gouda’s historic city center boasts over three hundred monuments. The street layout has remained virtually unchanged since the Middle Ages, and the city’s old canals are still very much in evidence.
You’ll get to know both the present and the past of Gouda. You’ll pass by the most important buildings, such as the old City Hall and St. John’s Church, but you’ll also visit the city’s lesser-known and hidden spots. Our guides will tell you about the ups and downs of the city and its residents throughout the centuries.

This walking tour can be bilingual (Dutch and English or Dutch and German).
