From Gouda to Reeuwijk (12 km)
Short cycling route from Gouda to the Reeuwijkse Plassen, a beautiful nature reserve with alternating reed beds, meadows, and water features. The distance makes it very enjoyable for children, and the route passes the Goudse Hofsteden petting zoo, a historic farm dating from the early 1900s. This is the place to pet animals in the petting pasture, from guinea pigs, rabbits, ponies, and donkeys to sheep. There is also a fun playground and children's craft activities.
Reeuwijkse Plassen Loop (16-32 km)
The vastness of the water, birds flying overhead, swaying reeds, and the peat meadow landscape make a loop around the Reeuwijkse Plassen well worth the effort. Cycle along narrow dikes with views of the lakes, past historic farms and idyllic ponds. Along the way, there are many places to stop for a break or to spot birds. There is a short and a slightly longer cycle route, marked with cycle junctions.
KoeKaas route through the Krimpenerwaard (± 40 km)
This is the cycling route for cheese fans and lovers of Dutch farmland. You cycle more than forty kilometers through the Krimpenerwaard, a well-kept secret between Rotterdam and Gouda. An oasis of peace, space, water, meadows, and villages such as Stolwijk and Ouderkerk aan den IJssel. Along the way, you will pass cheese farms where Gouda cheese is made with passion, but where you can also buy honey and eggs. A great place to stop! You can start from the center of Gouda or at one of the farms.
The Vlist & Krimpenerwaard Route (± 49 km)
A beautiful trip along the centuries-old river Vlist. A mix of winding roads, medieval farms, green meadows, and rustic windmills. You will pass through beautiful villages such as Haastrecht, Vlist, and the silver town of Schoonhoven, and you will also see a section of the Old Dutch Waterline. Start in Gouda and follow the junctions.
The Repurposed Heritage Route (50 km)
A cycling route that takes you through the renewed heritage of Schoonhoven, Haastrecht, and Gouda. You start in Schoonhoven, where you can see the rich history of silver. Then you follow the winding river Vlist towards Haastrecht and Gouda. In historic Gouda, you will discover repurposed buildings. From a former orphanage, which now houses Relais & Châteaux Weeshuis Gouda, to an old power station that LF Gouda has given a new lease of life. Cycle back to Schoonhoven through the vast, green polders of the Krimpenerwaard. A varied route full of culture, history, and beautiful landscapes.
Hidden Treasures, traces of the disaster year 1672 route (±50 km)
The Old Dutch Waterline is a unique cultural heritage site with fortified towns, windmills and pumping stations, bridges, locks and flood defences. Hop on your bike and discover the line with the cycling route 'Hidden Treasures, traces of the Disaster Year 1672'. It follows the route that William III took in June 1672 from the army camp via Reeuwijk to Gouda. It connects villages, traditional Dutch landscapes, cheese farms, and forts such as Fort Wierickerschans.
